Wellston Board of Education will study stricter punishment rules after a parent complained about a three day suspension for disrupting a class. The board will meet Feb 21 to consider not suspending without superintendent notice, allowing parental contact, and avoiding double punishment while clearing the student’s record and permitting makeup work.

The Heart Fund drive in Jackson County announces a balloon sale in Wellston Jackson and Oak Hill on Saturday with heart shaped balloons to raise funds for the Heart Association. Heart Sunday on February 25 will feature door to door canvassing and literature distribution to support research education and community programs. Wilbur versus Gettles moderate damage no injuries. Morley cited for failure to yield after his car struck Barbara McKee’s vehicle injuring McKee and Freda Jonas. Parks from Chillicothe drove into a ditch with moderate damage and was cited for DUI, bond set at 200 dollars.

WELLSTON J Phillip Richley announced bids for the Meadow Run Fourteenth Street bridge over Meadow Run will open March 6 at the highway division office. Estimated total cost 78000 dollars funded with Issue I. The bridge replaces the existing crossing at Fourteenth Street New Hampshire and Main Streets with a 36 foot wide structure and relocated channel. Traffic rerouted during construction with completion set for August 31.
