Elvis Presley, 'the King of rock n' roll', was born today in East Tupelo, Mississippi. Although he was raised an only child, Elvis was born a twin. His brother, Jesse Garon Presley, died at birth, causing his parents, truck driver Vernon Presley and sewing machine operator Gladys Love Smith, to become very protective of their only son. A plan to halt the recent violence in Gaza put forward by Egypt and France has been agreed on in principle by Israel, and Gaza’s Hamas has claimed that there were “positive signs.” Israel and Hamas have been under pressure to end the fighting in recent days as foreign diplomats flocked to the area.
