1994: Skater Nancy Kerrigan is attacked

Olympic bronze medalist Nancy Kerrigan was clubbed on her right leg by a mysterious attacker after practice today in Detroit's Cobo Arena, the site of this week's U.S. Figure Skating Championships. The attacker, who was described as about six feet tall, 190 pounds and in his late 20s or early 30s, ran up to Kerrigan as she was approached by a reporter from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Before anyone could react, the attacker sprinted to a group of locked plexiglass doors, bashed them with the same tool he hit Kerrigan with, and escaped. Read Full Story
